Bagalamukhi Mantra

Deity of Bagalamukhi Mantra

Devi Bagala is the deity of Bagalamukhi Mantra. She is also called ‘Valgamukhi’. ‘Bagala’ or ‘Vagla’ literally means a ‘rope’ or a ‘bridle’ that is put in the mouth to control the movements of tongue – and ‘mukhi’ means ‘faced’. She is the super power who can destroy all evil powers. Devi Bagalamukhi gives one the power to put a bridle (control) on his enemies. She blesses one with the power of confident and decisive speech. She is also called ‘Pitambari Devi’ as complexion is golden; she wears yellow clothes and sits on a golden throne. Bagalamukhi Mantra is portrayed as an angry goddess who holds a club in her right hand with which she kills a demon, while pulling his tongue out with her left hand. Bagalamukhi Devi is also known as ‘Brahmaastra Roopini’ and ‘Stambhan Devi’

Benefits of Bagalamukhi Mantra

Recitation of Bagalamukhi Mantra is believed to have miraculous powers. Bagalamukhi Mantra is known to ensure victory over enemies. Bagalamukhi Mantra is specially suggested for people in administration and management cadres, politicians, those facing debts or litigation problems, etc. Bagalamukhi Mantra can be used by a person who is facing losses in business, financial problems, false court cases, false accusations, debt problems, obstacles in profession, etc. Bagalamukhi Mantra is effective for those appearing for competitive exams, debates, etc. Bagalamukhi Mantra also helps in warding off evil spirits and evil eye.

“Bagalamukhi” is derived from “Bagala” (distortion of the original Sanskrit root “valgā”) and “mukha”, meaning “bridle” and “face”, respectively. Thus, the name means one whose face has the power to capture or control. She thus represents the hypnotic power of the Goddess.[3] Another interpretation translates her name as “Kalyani”.In Kubjika Tantra there is a reference to yet another interpretation of the meaning of the name ‘Bagala’. In the initial chapter of the text there is a verse – ‘Bakare Baruni Devi Gakare Siddhida Smrita. Lakare Prithivi Chaiba Chaitanya Prakrirtita’ (‘Ba’, the first letter of the name – ‘Bagala’, means ‘Baruni’ or ‘She Who is filled with the intoxicating mood to vanguish the demon’. ‘Ga’, the second letter, means ‘She Who grants all kinds of divine powers or siddhis and successes to human beings’. ‘La’, the third letter, means ‘She Who is the foundation of all kinds of sustaining powers in the world like the earth and is Consciousness Herself’.[4]

Bagalamukhi has a golden complexion and her dress is yellow. She sits in a golden throne in the midst of an ocean of nectar full of yellow lotuses. A crescent moon adorns her head. Two descriptions of the goddess are found in various texts: the Dwi-Bhuja (two-handed), and the Chaturbhuja (four-handed). The Dwi-Bhuja depiction is the more common, and is described as the Soumya or milder form. She holds a club in her right hand with which she beats a demon, while pulling his tongue out with her left hand. This image is sometimes interpreted as an exhibition of stambhana, the power to stun or paralyse an enemy into silence. This is one of the boons for which Bagalamukhi’s devotees worship her. Other Mahavidya goddesses are also said to represent similar powers useful for defeating enemies, to be invoked by their worshippers through various rituals.

Bagalamukhi is also called Pitambaradevi, Shatrubuddhivinashini and Brahmastra Roopini and she turns each thing into its opposite. She turns speech into silence, knowledge into ignorance, power into impotence, defeat into victory. She represents the knowledge whereby each thing must in time become its opposite. As the still point between dualities she allows us to master them. To see the failure hidden in success, the death hidden in life, or the joy hidden in sorrow are ways of contacting her reality. Bagalamukhi is the secret presence of the opposite wherein each thing is dissolved back into the Unborn and the Uncreated.

In ‘Bagalamukhistotratram’, a part of ‘Rudrayamala’ (a famous Tantra work), there are hymns in praise of the powers of Goddess Bagalamukhi – “Vadi Mukati Rankati Kshitipatirvaishwanarah Sheetati Krodhi Samyati Durjanah Sujanati Khsipranugah Khanjati. Garvi Khanjati Sarvaviccha Jarati Tvanmantrinaamantritah Srinitye Baglamukhi Pratidinam Tubhyam Namah “(By the effect of Your Mantra good conversationalists become speechless; rich become beggars; devastating fire gets cooled. The anger of the angry person is removed; an evil minded person becomes good. The quick moving person becomes crippled. The conceit of the conceited person is reduced. Knowledgeable person nearly becomes a fool. Salutations to the compassionate Bagalamukhi!

(Note that I have already been initiated it. For people who have not been initiated into this mantra, they may experience some detox symptoms as negative energy is released. I would recommend that get yourself initiated into this mantra by a Guru before starting chanting. I find this an immediate acting and very powerful mantra, so strongly recommend getting oneself initiated and chanting this mantra.)

1. Effect was immediate. I had a stomach ache, and it vanished.Cures body pains rapidly.

2.Also, same day some pleasant events happened, and people who are normally not friendly were friendly that day. Also, a person with whom I have been upset for some time called up to say sorry!

3. Feel like dancing :))). Feeling joyous.

4. Gave immediate answer to a question I had in mind. (Hint to self: learnt that ‘Om Mani Padme Hum’ links mind with heart. Remembered what answer I got when singing ‘Om Mani Padme Hum’. Also, I had used the Ganpati Mantras Vakratumdam Ekadantam, and the 12 names of Ganapati, so could be a combined effect. I have seen before that chanting Ganapati’s names or chanting ‘Lam’ (Ganapati’s chakra) gives answers.)

5. Unresolved issues with other people start getting resolved. (eg. my issues with some family members got cleared.)

6. If feeling sleepy, chanting this mantra takes away sleepiness and makes wide awake.

Wealth is the most important thing in a man’s life because unless and until a man is materialistically well off he will never know what spiritualism is and will never be able to embark on the journey of self realization. Diwali, the festival of lights is the most important time to do wealth related Sadhanas because Mother Laxmi says whenever I am prayed to on Diwali I manifest at such a place. Goddess Lakshmi, also called ‘Shri’,- means Good Luck to Hindus. The word ‘Lakshmi’ is derived from the Sanskrit word “Laksya”, meaning ‘aim’ and she is the goddess of wealth, luxury, beauty, power, generosity and auspiciousness. She also married Shri Rama in her incarnation as Sita and Krishna as Rukmini and Radha

Lakshmi is the embodiment of God’s superior spiritual feminine energy which purifies, empowers and uplifts the individual. She is also the personification of the Spiritual energy within us and universe called Kundalini.

Lakshmi is one of the mother goddesses and is addressed as “mata” (mother) instead of just “devi” (goddess).

Lakshmi is depicted as a beautiful woman of golden complexion, with four hands, sitting or standing on a full-bloomed lotus and holding a lotus bud, which stands for beauty, purity and fertility. Her four hands represent the four ends of human life. Two elephants are often shown standing next to the goddess and sprinkling water.

Maha Lakshmi is claimed to fulfill the promises of material, wealth and contentment.  Lakshmi is the household goddess of most Hindu families, and a favorite of women. The festive month of October is Mata Lakshmi’s special month. Lakshmi Puja is celebrated on the full moon night of Kojagari Purnima.

Gold coins are shown flowing from her hands, which suggests that her worshippers  gain wealth. She always wears gold embroidered red clothes. Red symbolizes activity and the golden lining represents prosperity. Lakshmi is the consort of Lord Vishnu, and also appears as Lakshmi-Narayan.

Hindus worship Lakshmi for the peace and prosperity of the family. Businessmenworship her to get good fortune in the trade. On the full moon night following Dusshera or Durga Puja, Hindus worship Lakshmi with big celebrations and pray for her blessings, and invite neighbors to attend the puja.

It is strongly believed by Hindus, that on  full moon night Mata visits the homes showers with wealth. A special worship is also offered to Lakshmi on the auspicious Diwali night.
